In 2013 RSD Bikes made a big hit on the Fatbike Scene with the introduction of their Mayor Fatbike.  Being a Canadian based company, their product naturally sparked our attention, not to mention the bike was loaded with quality components at a comfortable price-point.

What's new for this company in 2016?  We just spoke with Mark from RSD at their Interbike Booth. Mark brought us in on some of the changes the company has made over the last year.

We really enjoyed our visit to the Fatback booth at Interbike 2015. The folks there were fun to talk to, and their carbon fatbikes were awesome to learn about and ride. We spoke with a guy named Fuzzy, who works at the small Alaskan bike company. He filled us in on their newest carbon fatbike, called “Skookum”.

 

The volume and variety of bikes and bike-related products on proud display at Interbike 2015 is really quite astonishing. Of all the fantastic and interesting innovations we saw, one that really stood out to us was an electric fatbike from Vancouver-based company, Surface 604.

 

While the dream of going on a bike tour across the world is shared by many, it seems that there are number of limitations (and excuses!) that prevent us from making our dreams become reality.  Recently we interviewed Warren and Pauline, who have successfully travelled various places in the world with folding bikes and Burley trailer about how they tackled some of the limitations.

At Interbike 2014 we found a company called Höganäs that is just breaking into the electric bike motor market.  Höganäs is a Swedish company that has its roots in the development of metal powders for the automotive industry.  By applying some of their metal powder technology to electric bike motor design, they've been able to magnetically insulate some motor components and create a transverse flux motor for e-bikes.  David from Höganäs does a great job of explaining their motor in the video, so be sure to check it out.
