The Tern Cargo Tray is a rear-mounted cargo platform for the HSD, Quick Haul, and Short Haul cargo bikes. Its defining characteristic is an L-shaped cross-section — a flat base with a vertical rear wall — that cradles cargo from behind rather than relying entirely on straps or tray walls on all sides. This shape handles the category of items that don't fit neatly into a basket or Eurocrate: pizza boxes, coolers, wide appliance boxes, flat-pack items. At 1.06 kg it's significantly lighter than the Shortbed Tray and rated to 30 kg. ISO-11243 certification confirms the rack meets international safety and performance standards for bicycle cargo systems. Aluminium tubing construction keeps tare weight down — relevant when the bike and rider together already represent significant mass before any cargo is added. Batten Straps Gen 1 compatible
The Cargo Tray works with Tern's Batten Straps Gen 1 for securing cargo that doesn't self-contain within the L-shaped cradle. Loose bags, groceries without a crate, or cargo that needs to be held against the rear wall — Batten Straps provide the tie-down points. Straps are sold separately.
