Tern HQ Bag
A 10-litre front commuter bag that clicks onto the Luggage Truss — padded compartments for a 13" laptop and a tablet, organiser pockets, a high-visibility rain cover, and a shoulder strap for carrying it into the office. The mobile headquarters for a work commute.
The Tern HQ Bag is a front-mounted commuter bag built around the working rider's daily load: a padded, zippered compartment for a 13" laptop, a second padded compartment for a tablet, and front and internal pockets for chargers, cables, keys, and documents. It clicks onto an installed Luggage Truss via a recessed KLICKfix adapter — mounting to the frame rather than the handlebar, so steering stays unaffected by the load. At the destination, one press releases the bag and the adjustable shoulder strap carries it inside like a regular work bag. The nylon ripstop body is weather-resistant, and a high-visibility rain cover is included for sustained rain — pulled over the bag, it also makes the front of the bike significantly more visible in gloom.
Highlights
Laptop AND tablet — separate padded compartments
Most bike bags with a device sleeve hold one device. The HQ Bag has two dedicated padded, zippered compartments — one sized for a 13" laptop, one for a tablet. Each device is isolated from the other and from the main compartment, so nothing presses screen-against-zipper during the ride. For commuters who carry both to work daily, this is the difference between a bike bag and a proper work bag that happens to mount on a bike.
Frame-mounted via Luggage Truss — steering unaffected
The Luggage Truss mounts to the frame's head tube area, not the handlebar or fork. The HQ Bag's weight — up to 2.7 kg loaded — rides on the frame, so the steering stays light and predictable. A handlebar-mounted bag of the same weight noticeably dampens and slows steering input; the truss mount avoids that entirely. This is the same frame-mount advantage shared across Tern's Luggage Truss accessories, including the Kanga Rack.
Recessed KLICKfix adapter — click on, press off
The KLICKfix adapter is recessed into the back panel of the bag, so the bag sits flat when carried off the bike and the adapter doesn't dig into your side on the shoulder strap. Mounting is a single downward click onto the Luggage Truss; removal is a button press. No straps, no threading — the on/off cycle takes seconds at each end of the commute, which is what makes taking the bag inside every time realistic.
High-visibility rain cover included
The nylon ripstop body sheds light rain on its own; for sustained rain, the included rain cover pulls over the entire bag and seals the water out — protecting the electronics inside. The cover is high-visibility, and because the bag rides at the front of the bike, the cover doubles as a visibility panel facing oncoming traffic in exactly the conditions where visibility is worst. It stows in the bag when not in use.
Shoulder strap — the bag goes where you go
The adjustable shoulder strap converts the HQ Bag into an off-bike work bag the moment it leaves the truss. Laptop, tablet, chargers, and documents all travel inside in one motion — nothing to repack into a second bag at the office door, and no electronics left on a parked bike. The 340 × 280 × 95 mm profile is proportioned like a slim messenger bag rather than a piece of bike luggage.
HQ Bag vs Kanga Rack — same truss, different jobs
Both mount to the same Luggage Truss via KLICKfix and swap in seconds. The HQ Bag ($214) is a structured commuter bag for electronics and work gear. The Kanga Rack ($124) is an open strap-platform for parcels, grocery bags, and irregular cargo. Many riders own both — the HQ Bag for the weekday commute, the Kanga Rack for weekend errands — and switch based on the day's load without touching the truss.
