Tern Rapid Transit Rack L
The size L version of Tern's transit wheel rear rack — same premium spinner castors, protective cover, and KLICKfix Rackpack compatibility as the M, sized for larger Tern folding bike models. Fold, tilt, roll.
The Rapid Transit Rack L is the large-frame version of Tern's transit wheel rack system. It shares every feature with the Rapid Transit Rack M — premium spinner castors for omnidirectional rolling when the bike is folded, a protective cover to contain grease and drivetrain grime in public spaces, an optional steering handle for navigating crowded concourses, and KLICKfix Rackpack compatibility for everyday cargo when riding. The only meaningful difference is the size designation, which determines which Tern folding bike models the rack fits and ensures the spinner wheels contact the ground correctly when the bike is folded and tilted back.
Highlights
Spinner wheels — omnidirectional rolling when folded
Premium suitcase-style spinner castors rotate 360° so the folded bike rolls in any direction with one hand. Sideways through a turnstile, angled into a train car, forward through a station — the wheels follow the push without needing to be aligned first. Same castor system as the size M.
Why size matters — geometry-specific fit
The transit wheel position is specific to the fold geometry of each Tern bike size. On an L-sized bike, the spinner wheels must sit at the correct height and angle when the bike is folded — the rack is built to that geometry. The M rack on an L bike (or vice versa) will misplace the wheels, making rolling awkward or impossible. This is a fit issue, not a quality issue.
Protective cover — grease contained in public spaces
The included cover shields the chain, drivetrain, and tyres when the bike is folded. Transit systems, office lobbies, train carriages, and airport terminals are sensitive to grease marks. The cover protects surroundings and keeps clothing clean when rolling or carrying the folded bike.
Optional steering handle — precision in crowds
An optional steering handle provides a dedicated grip point for guiding the folded bike through busy concourses, platforms, and revolving doors. More precise than pushing from the frame in tight quarters. Confirm whether the handle is included or sold separately at time of purchase.
KLICKfix Rackpack compatible — full cargo function when riding
When unfolded and in use, the rack accepts KLICKfix Rackpack baskets and bags — Dry Goods Bag Gen 1, Kontti Basket Gen 1, Market Basket Gen 2, and other Rackpack accessories. The transit and cargo functions share the same rack without compromise or swapping.
