Tern Front Dog Carrier Up to 7 kg Rollable Top Four-Sided Mesh Safety Tether Transporteur Rack Required

RuffHouse · Front-Mounted Dog Carrier · Up to 7 kg · Transporteur Rack · 3-Buckle Snap Mount · Rollable Top

    Tern RuffHouse

A front-mounted carrier for small dogs — snaps to the Transporteur Rack with three buckles, four-sided mesh ventilation, rollable top so the dog can see out, built-in safety tether, detachable padded base, and side pockets for treats and a leash.

    $235 CAD

Requires Transporteur Rack — front-mounted, not rear. The RuffHouse attaches to the Transporteur Rack (sold separately) at the front of the bike. It is not a rear-mounted system. Suitable for dogs up to 7 kg (15 lb) — for larger dogs up to 13.5 kg, see the Doghouse Mini system (Clubhouse Mini + Soft Crate Mini). Recommended for trained dogs; consult your veterinarian if unsure about your dog's suitability for bike travel. Always attach the safety tether to a harness, not a collar. 7 kg max dog weight (15 lb) Front Transporteur Rack mount Rollable open-top option

The Tern RuffHouse is a front-mounted soft carrier for small dogs, designed to snap onto the Transporteur Rack at the front of compatible Tern cargo bikes. Positioned at the front, the dog is directly in the rider's view throughout the ride — easier to monitor than a rear-mounted carrier. Three snap buckles attach the RuffHouse to the Transporteur Rack without tools; the same mechanism releases it for removal. Four-sided mesh paneling keeps the carrier ventilated from all sides in all weather. The rollable top opens to let the dog see out and feel the air when conditions allow, and closes fully for weather protection. A built-in safety tether clips to the dog's harness. The padded base detaches for washing. Side pockets hold treats, a short leash, and waste bags within reach while riding.

Front-mounted — dog in view throughout the ride

Positioning the carrier at the front means the dog is in the rider's sightline rather than behind them. You can see the dog's body language, reaction to traffic, and comfort level without turning around. For a dog that is new to bike travel, or one that needs monitoring, the front mount is a meaningful advantage over rear placement. The Transporteur Rack's large platform provides a stable base for the carrier at the front of the bike.

3-buckle snap mount — tool-free on and off

Three snap buckles attach the RuffHouse to the Transporteur Rack. The buckles engage positively and hold the carrier secure during the ride; release them to remove the carrier in seconds without tools. A carrier that stays firmly in place while riding but comes off quickly for access to the dog or for removal at the destination covers the two most frequent needs: ride security and ease of use at stops.

Four-sided mesh — ventilation from all directions

Mesh panels on all four sides of the carrier allow air movement from any direction regardless of wind orientation during the ride. A carrier with ventilation on only two sides relies on the wind direction being favourable — four-sided mesh is always ventilating. This matters for a dog in an enclosed space, where heat and stale air build faster than for a dog simply riding in the open.

Rollable top — open-air or enclosed

The top of the RuffHouse rolls back and stays rolled to give the dog an open-top experience — the dog can stand, look around, and feel the breeze. Many small dogs prefer this to being fully enclosed. Roll it closed for weather protection or when riding in traffic where a more contained dog is preferable. The rollable mechanism is simpler than the Doghouse Mini's zippered window design — appropriate for the smaller carrier format.

Built-in safety tether + detachable padded base

The safety tether clips to the dog's harness — not the collar — and prevents the dog from jumping out if the top is rolled open or if the carrier is opened mid-ride. Attach to the harness; collar attachment risks injury to the dog's neck. The padded base gives the dog a comfortable, cushioned floor and detaches from the carrier for washing independently — important for a surface that accumulates fur, mud, and accidents over time.

RuffHouse vs Doghouse Mini — choosing by dog size

The RuffHouse ($235, front-mounted, Transporteur Rack) is for dogs up to 7 kg — toy and small breeds. The Doghouse Mini system (Clubhouse Mini + Soft Crate Mini from $152, rear-mounted) handles dogs up to 13.5 kg and adds the Dog Roof Mini ($138) for weather enclosure. If the dog is under 7 kg and a Transporteur Rack is already on the bike, the RuffHouse is the more straightforward and lower-cost setup. For larger small dogs or dogs that need more interior space, the Doghouse Mini is the appropriate choice.
