A mesh wheel guard that shields rear-rack passengers from the back wheel — blocks foot and clothing contact with the spinning tyre, works with the Sidekick Seat Pad, Captain's Chair, and Thule Yepp Maxi child seats. Part of the Tern Passenger System.
The Tern Sidekick Wheel Guard M is a safety panel that fills the gap between the rear rack and the back wheel on compatible Tern cargo bikes. Without a wheel guard, a rear-rack passenger's feet, shoelaces, coat hem, or skirt can contact the spinning tyre — an entanglement hazard. The guard's polyester mesh spans this opening on both sides of the wheel, creating a physical barrier. Velcro straps mount it without tools and allow removal for access to the frame or wheel. The design allows unobstructed access to the HSD's built-in frame lock — a common concern when adding accessories around the rear end. HSD frame lock access — not blocked by the guard
The HSD has a built-in frame lock positioned near the rear wheel. The Wheel Guard's shape and mounting are designed to leave this lock accessible — a lock that can't be reached while the guard is installed would be left unlocked, defeating the purpose of having it. The guard wraps around the lock's operating position without obstructing it.
Polyester mesh — weather-resistant and cleanable
Polyester mesh sheds water and dries quickly — the guard isn't going to hold road spray or rain against the wheel. The mesh surface wipes clean of mud, splashes, and general road grime. A guard positioned between the tyre and the passenger will collect some road debris over time; easy-clean construction means it stays presentable.
Velcro straps — tool-free, adjustable
