Tern Perch
A single-piece 5052 aluminium wall hook for storing and displaying a bicycle — rubber-coated to protect paint, gravity holds the bike, 8° adjustability for different frames, and slots for a lock, helmet, and accessories. Eurobike Award 2014 · iF Award 2015.
The Tern Perch is a wall-mounted bike storage hook made from a single piece of 5052 aluminium — 245 × 122 mm and just 5 mm thick. It mounts to the wall at a fixed point and the bike hangs from it by gravity — no latches, no straps, no catches, nothing to operate when hanging or removing the bike. A rubber coating on the contact surfaces prevents the hook from scratching frame paint. The 8° adjustability allows the Perch to tilt slightly to accommodate different frame tube angles and sizes. Additional slots on the body provide organised storage for a lock, helmet, or other accessories. The Perch works with Tern bikes and most other brands. It received the Eurobike Award in 2014, the iF Product Design Award in 2015, and the Taiwan Excellence Award.

Highlights
Gravity-only — no mechanism to operate
The Perch has no latch, clip, strap, or catch — the bike hangs from the hook by gravity and is lifted off the same way. There is nothing to open, unlock, or release before taking the bike down. This simplicity is both the design point and the practical advantage: the hook works the same way every time, nothing wears out or breaks, and there's no learning curve for anyone in the household. The rubber coating keeps the frame from slipping off the hook under its own weight.
5052 aluminium — single piece, 5 mm profile
5052 aluminium is a marine-grade alloy — higher corrosion resistance than the more common 6061 series, appropriate for a product that lives in a hallway or garage where humidity varies. Single-piece construction means no joints, welds, or assembly points that can loosen or fail over time. At 5 mm thick and 245 × 122 mm, the Perch sits close to the wall and has almost no visual footprint when the bike is down — a property that matters in a narrow hallway or compact apartment.
8° adjustability — accommodates different frame geometries
The Perch can be tilted 8° from its default position to accommodate frames where the top tube or hanging point is at a different angle. Not all bikes hang level from the same hook position — a slight tilt on the mount allows the bike to hang without pressing uncomfortably on the tube or tilting the whole bike at an awkward angle. The adjustment is made at installation; it's not an in-use adjustment.
Accessory slots — lock, helmet, and gear storage
Slots integrated into the Perch's body hold a folded lock, a helmet, or other accessories at the same wall location as the bike. The slots prevent the Perch's wall position from being wasted space when the bike is out — a helmet, cable lock, or lights can hang on the same fixture. Everything for the next ride is in one place on the wall.
Rubber coating — frame paint protected
The contact surface of the hook is coated in rubber — soft enough that repeated contact with a frame tube doesn't mark or scratch the paint. Metal-on-metal contact would eventually wear through paint at the contact point; the rubber coating prevents this. The coating also provides grip, keeping the frame from sliding forward off the hook if bumped.
Works with most bikes — not Tern-exclusive
The Perch is designed for Tern bikes but works with the vast majority of bicycles — road, mountain, city, cargo, and folding — as long as the frame has a horizontal tube or section that can rest on the hook. Bikes with very unconventional frame shapes or full suspension designs that don't have a clear hanging point may not be compatible. Most standard diamond-frame and step-through bikes work without issue.
